Random Shots– Tool Reviews Arny Spahn

The Bionic Face Shield from Woodcraft is a lightweight mask, very adjustable, with a wide visual range, both sideways and vertically.  I wear it over a cap turned backwards to keep dust out of my hair. The size adjustment allows me to get a perfect fit. When working, the mask is far enough from my face that I don’t fog it up and I am barely conscious of it. It has two click-stops; one up like a welder’s mask, the other down in place. I have had a sanding block slip from
my hand and hit the mask with no problem; the block bounced off to the side and I did not feel the impact. I have used window washing fluid to clear the sawdust from it a couple of times; it is not static-proof.  Cost of the mask is $49.95 .

The Push-Loc is a plastic safety push stick with an offset handle. The blade is only about 3/8” wide. It has a tail hook and a noslip strip to help grip the wood. It comes with a docking station which can mount on top of the fence and holds a pencil and measuring tape. It’s currently on sale for $7.49 from Rockler.  The tool seems ideal for safely sawing narrow pieces on a table saw.
